Baseball Recap: Edgar Wins Going Away Against Auburndale

Edgar owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They blew past the Auburndale Apaches 7-0. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jase Apfelbeck made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leyton Schuett was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Weiland, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Edgar and bumps their season record up to 12-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Auburndale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

Edgar will have a chance to go back-to-back against Auburndale: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
