Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Austin

Mountain View is 1-9 against Austin since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lobos will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Mountain View has given up an average of 3.8 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain View came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Ysleta, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Mountain View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 728th, while Ysleta are ranked 309th).

Meanwhile, Clint kept up with Austin until halftime on Tuesday, but afterwards: not so much. The Panthers blew past the Lions 4-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Austin's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Austin, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Mountain View couldn't quite get it done against Austin when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 3-1. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
