Basketball Recap: South-Doyle Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Payton Rollins and Cloey Wade

If South-Doyle was feeling good fresh off their 57-34 takedown of Sequoyah last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South-Doyle Cherokees fell 54-44 to the Lenoir City Panthers on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cherokees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-51 back in December of 2024.

South-Doyle's loss came despite strong showings from Cloey Wade and Payton Rollins. Wade dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards, while Rollins went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points and three steals. Rollins' evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

With the loss, South-Doyle broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-13. As for Lenoir City, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South-Doyle will venture away from home to square off against Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lenoir City, they will head out to take on Carter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
