Basketball Recap: Golden City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bronaugh last Tuesday, Golden City came back down to earth. The Golden City Eagles lost to the Dadeville Bearcats at home by a 75-58 margin on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Golden City still got an impressive performance from Jamison Menadue, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The matchup was Menadue's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hughes, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Golden City's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Dadeville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Golden City will challenge Jasper at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dadeville, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Dadeville Bearcats take on the Halfway Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Halfway knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Dadeville likes a good challenge.
