Softball Recap: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Oldham County Colonels
It was a good run, but Floyd Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Oldham County Colonels by a score of 6-4. Floyd Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oldham County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Elise Coleman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Peyton Drummond was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Floyd Central's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 20-4. As for Oldham County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will challenge Seymour at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oldham County, they will head out on the road to face off against Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
