Softball Preview: Seventy-First Falcons vs. Cape Fear Colts
Seventy-First is 0-10 against Cape Fear since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Seventy-First Falcons will face off against the Cape Fear Colts at 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seventy-First's offense. They lost 16-0 to South View on Tuesday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, on Friday Cape Fear's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Purnell Swett. The five-run effort marked the Colts' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
McKinley Kolasa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Allie Dawson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Amari Adams was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
