Game recap: Central High School Football Team beats Kapaun Mt. Carmel

WICHITA, Kan. - Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita, Kan.) fell 21-7 to Central (Andover, Kan.).

The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at seven. The Jaguars took the lead for good on a kick return touchdown by Zach Lock with 11:00 to go in the third quarter.

The Crusaders' Nick Heiland played well. The senior running back ran for one touchdown.

Central's standout player in the win was Cameron Hurley. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel's lone touchdown came on a 3-yard run by Heiland in the first quarter.



Coming into the game CHS had allowed 26.5 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding KMC below its season average of 11.6 points scored per game.

The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Wichita school took, 41-7.

The defeat comes as a step back for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, which notched a 31-12 victory over Arkansas City in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Crusaders' 2-game winning streak.
