Baseball Recap: Bullard Takes a Loss

Bullard and China Spring squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Bullard had to settle for second. They fell 11-6 to the Cougars. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this game were averaging 3.17 runs allowed.

Bullard got a good showing from Evan Downing, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Downing has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bullard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Holt, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Tucker Stainback also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Bullard and nudges their season record down to 27-9. As for China Spring, the win (which was their 23rd in a row) raised their record to 33-4.

As of now, neither Bullard nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
