Softball Recap: Strathmore Triumphs

Strathmore came out on top against Corcoran on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Panthers 8-7. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Gracie Gillis was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Addison Bidart was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth McDonald, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Strathmore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Strathmore's record now sits at 18-6. As for Corcoran, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-7.

Strathmore wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-2 victory against Lindsay on the 28th. As for Corcoran, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-0 defeat against Woodlake on the 28th.
