Basketball Game Preview: Caliche Buffaloes vs. Flagler Panthers

The Caliche Buffaloes will challenge the Flagler Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Caliche is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Caliche is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Otis on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Caliche took a blow against Otis, falling 75-39. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 96th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Avery Bell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Caliche is 2-1 when Bell posts ten or more rebounds, but 1-5 otherwise. Amman Adolf was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Caliche smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Flagler was beaten by Byers 78-39 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Caliche's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Flagler, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-6.
