Baseball Recap: Hickman County Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Hickman County won the last time they faced Mayfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falcons never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Falcons have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Gabe Dowdy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double. Hickman County is 6-1 when Dowdy posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Brec Byassee was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Hickman County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Hickman County and bumps their season record up to 11-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Mayfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Hickman County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mayfield: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
