Basketball Recap: Pickett County Piles Up the Points Against Jellico

Pickett County had won nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they bumped up to 4-1 to make it ten. They claimed a resounding 77-38 victory over the Jellico Blue Devils. The Bobcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Pickett County found their leader in sophomore Cole Amonett, who posted 19 points. Amonett continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Pryor, who scored 13 points.

As for Jellico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since February 15th.

Despite the loss, Jellico still got an impressive performance from Trey Vann, who shot 47% from the field en route to 17 points and three steals. That was a full 44.7% of the Blue Devils' points, marking the third time in a row Vann has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Pickett County has already played their next contest, a 92-38 win against York Institute on the 2nd. Jellico has also already played their next matchup (against Oakdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
