Basketball Game Preview: Ascend Leadership Aviators vs. River Mill Jaguars

The Ascend Leadership Aviators will take on the River Mill Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 76-12, which was the final score in Ascend Leadership's tilt against Neuse Charter on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Aviators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Cougars are ranked 181st).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when River Mill faced off against Triangle Math & Science last Monday. River Mill came up short against Triangle Math & Science, falling 39-17.

Ascend Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for River Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Ascend Leadership was dealt a bruising 65-20 loss at the hands of River Mill when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Ascend Leadership avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
