Volleyball Recap: Wayzata Takes a Loss

If Wayzata was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hopkins last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans fell just short of the Rogers Royals by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Wayzata lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 26-24, 16-14.

Caitlin Schmidt was the offensive standout of the match as she had 18 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Ava Hulett, who had 24 assists and four digs.

Wayzata dropped their record down to 16-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Rogers, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-7.

Wayzata does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rogers, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Champlin Park at 7:00 p.m.
