Softball Game Preview: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Nelson County Governors

The Stuarts Draft Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Nelson County Governors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stuarts Draft is looking for their season's first win.

Stuarts Draft is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckingham on Wednesday.

Sierra Whetsel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lyla Shifflett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Whetsel wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Stuarts Draft lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Nelson County fell victim to Amherst County and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 10-0. The Governors just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row dating back to last season.

Nelson County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Stuarts Draft, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
