Preview: Lawrence North Wildcats vs. Lawrence Central Bears
After each having a week off, The Lawrence North Wildcats and the Lawrence Central Bears will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Lawrence North strolled past Pike with points to spare, taking the game 21-6. Given Lawrence North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Pike is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lawrence North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Montez Jones, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 56 yards and a touchdown. Izayveon Moore and his 102 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lawrence North's win.
Lawrence North's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Dantu (DJ) Gardner and Anthony S ludington who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Central was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They snuck past Carmel with a 21-17 victory.
Lawrence North's victory on Thursday bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Lawrence Central, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Lawrence North strolled past Lawrence Central when the teams last played back in September by a score of 41-26. Does Lawrence North have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lawrence Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
