Baseball Recap: Nettleton Takes a Loss

Nettleton came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat two weeks ago. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Paragould Rams by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. Considering the last time the Raiders couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Maddox Hampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nettleton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Bender, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Bender's first of the season.

Nettleton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Paragould, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nettleton will venture away from home to challenge Rivercrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Paragould, they will challenge Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
