Recap: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Thoreau Hawks        
        
		
            
 If the Tohatchi Cougars were feeling good  off their  79-52 takedown of the Crownpoint Eagles last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tohatchi was just a bucket shy of victory  on Saturday and fell  81-80 to Thoreau. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Thursday (79), Tohatchi still had to take the loss.
 Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Malcolm Brown, who  scored 15 points along with five  rebounds and five  steals. Brown continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's  played.  Kyle Yazzie was another key contributor,  scoring 18 points along with five  rebounds.
  Stetson Perry was  his usual excellent self,  scoring 23 points along with eight  rebounds and three  steals for Thoreau. It was the first time this season that  Perry  pulled down eight or more  rebounds. Another player making a difference was  Elam Smith, who  scored 17 points along with three  steals.
 Tohatchi's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Thoreau, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record  this season.
 Tohatchi will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against Newcomb at 7:00  p.m. Tohatchi has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 673 points over their last nine matches. As for Thoreau, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Zuni at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Zuni is coming into the  game with three straight  victories on the road,  so Thoreau is out to stop a  team with plenty of momentum.
