Basketball Game Preview: College Park Falcons vs. Campolindo Cougars

College Park is 0-10 against Campolindo since January of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The College Park Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Campolindo Cougars at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in College Park's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

College Park is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Ygnacio Valley on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. College Park was dealt an 85-58 loss at the hands of Ygnacio Valley. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Wolves are ranked 110th).

The losing side was boosted by Mathys Joseph, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Barnett, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Campolindo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 62-53 win over St. Mary's on Saturday.

College Park better keep an eye on Ren Marchetti. He was instrumental in Campolindo's win, going 7 of 17 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Peyton Beld, who had eight points.

Campolindo's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for College Park, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as College Park and Campolindo are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. College Park hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63 points per game. However, it's not like Campolindo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

College Park lost to Campolindo on the road by a decisive 52-36 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can College Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
