Baseball Recap: Belding Takes a Loss

Belding was the 6-2 winner over Pewamo-Westphalia when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Redskins came up short against the Pirates on Friday, falling 14-4.

Colton Hummel was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Holyfield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Belding's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belding will welcome Muskegon at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, they will square off against Saranac at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Redskins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.71 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
