Baseball Recap: Tarpon Springs' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

While Tarpon Springs's win against Anclote wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spongers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Sharks on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spongers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Danny Scott tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has become a key player for Tarpon Springs: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Tarpon Springs' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kyzer Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Campbell has posted since back in February.

Tarpon Springs' win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Anclote, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Tarpon Springs is facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Anclote, they will square off against Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
