Thomas Nelson extended their winning streak to nine on Monday, bumping their season record up to 10-4 in the process. They blew past the Caverna Colonels 20-10. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Justin Parsley and Rylen Keith were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parsley struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Keith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Parsley a new career-high. At the plate, Parsley went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Keith went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. With that strong performance, Parsley is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Cole Girdley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon McCubbins, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Thomas Nelson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.
As for Caverna, they dropped their record down to 0-9-1 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked their highest-scoring game to date.
On Caverna's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cortavian Maxey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Clayton Norris also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Thomas Nelson has already played their next contest, a 20-1 victory against Cornerstone Christian Academy on the 22nd. As for Caverna, they will challenge Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colonels are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
