Softball Recap: Kentlake Beats Beamer for Their Second Straight Victory

23 must be Kentlake's lucky number: they beat Beamer with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Falcons beat the Titans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 23-13. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Josie Pedeferri was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Pedeferri was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Linnane, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Keith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Kentlake and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.0 runs over those games. As for Beamer, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kentlake is set to take on their familiar foe Kent-Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Beamer will challenge rival White River at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
