Recap: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Braxton County Eagles
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost against the Braxton County Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Notre Dame suffered a tough 60-40 defeat at the hands of Braxton County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Notre Dame in their matchups with Braxton County: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame lost, one person who can't be blamed is Selena Wilson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Wilson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Austyn Paugh, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Notre Dame has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Braxton County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tygarts Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Braxton County will take on Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
