Game recap: Alta High School Football Team wins against Riverton

SANDY, Utah - Alta (Sandy, Utah) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 27-14 win over Riverton (Utah).

The Hawks scored three points in the first quarter. Alta scored on a field goal by Tanner Valerio.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Valerio in the first quarter, AHS led 17-0 at the half.

The Sandy school expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. The Hawks scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by Valerio.

Alta's standout player in the win was Chipper Lucero. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.

The Silverwolves' Stratton Brown played well. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.



Coming into the game AHS had allowed 20.6 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Riverton well below its season average of 24.3 points scored per game.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 35-21 win for Alta.

With the win AHS extended its winning streak to four games.
