Softball Recap: McCreary Central Takes a Loss

McCreary Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to the Berea Pirates. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly three runs.

Ava Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.9 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Kahlei Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases. Addison Tucker also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

McCreary Central now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Berea, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Coming up, McCreary Central will square off against Oneida at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Berea, they will venture away from home to challenge Bell County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
