Jefferson piles up the points against St. Augustine

Recap: Jefferson Mustangs vs. St. Augustine Knights

The Jefferson Mustangs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Augustine 73-35 on the road. With Jefferson ahead 37-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Leading Jefferson to victory were Nico Vela and Trey Perez. Vela scored 20 points along with 3 steals, while Perez scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Perez has scored at least 25% of Jefferson's points. Another player making a difference was Amonte Carter, who scored 9 points.

Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for St. Augustine, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Jefferson's road trip will continue as they head out to face United South at 2:00 p.m. on December 1st. United South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Jefferson likes a good challenge. As for St. Augustine, they will take on Flour Bluff at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
