Basketball Recap: Jefferson County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wakulla Christian School last Tuesday, Jefferson County came back down to earth. The matchup between the Jefferson County Tigers and the Taylor County Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Jefferson County Tigers falling 56-38. The Tigers were probably out for revenge after losing 85-67 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Jefferson County still got an impressive performance from Xavier Miller, who posted 22 points. The contest was Miller's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos McBride, who earned four points and six assists.

Jock Price was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds for Taylor County. What's more, Price also racked up four blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trayce Abrercombie, who put up 12 points.

Jefferson County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Taylor County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Madison County the next time they take the court. Taylor County will head out to face Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Jefferson County will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
