Baseball Recap: Saranac Find Success

Saranac won the last time they faced Tupper Lake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chiefs came out on top against the Lumberjacks by a score of 8-5.

Adrian Barnes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Saranac is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Barnes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robbie Squier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Matt Owen, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Saranac's record now sits at 6-7. As for Tupper Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Coming up, Saranac will venture away from home to challenge Franklin Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tupper Lake, they will welcome Saranac Lake at 7:55 p.m. on Thursday.
