Basketball Recap: Mcdonough's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, McDonough couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 70-60 to the North Oconee Titans on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-48 back in December of 2024.

McDonough lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zion Greene, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaiden Greene, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five boards.

The defeat snapped McDonough's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 25-6 record. As for North Oconee, the victory was the 27th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-2.

McDonough does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Oconee, they will challenge Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pace Academy will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something North Oconee surely won't give up without a fight.
