Baseball Recap: Wendell Takes a Loss

Wendell had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 9-15-1 to make it four. They lost 10-1 to the Malad Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-2 loss on Friday.

Wendell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Malad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.

On Malad's side, Brady Showell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Malad let Carter Carey and Rydon Montgomery run wild. Carey went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Montgomery went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Montgomery a new career-high. Carter Blaisdell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Wendell nor Malad have any future games scheduled.
