Baseball Recap: Taft School Comes Up Short

Taft School had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-7 to make it four. They lost 13-2 to the Westminster School Martlets. Surprisingly, this marked the Big Red's fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Omar Minaya was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cayden Van Dolah, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Westminster School, their win bumped their record up to 8-9. Surprisingly, this marked their fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Westminster School's side, they got a massive performance out of Jake Pleau, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Pleau is becoming a predictor of the Martlets' success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Will Patla was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

When Taft School and Westminster School next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Big Red will take on Canterbury School and their four-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Westminster School will try to stop Avon Old Farms' three-game winning streak when they meet at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
