Volleyball Recap: West Craven Eagles vs. East Carteret Mariners

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Bern, West Craven was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the East Carteret Mariners. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mariners, too.

West Craven was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19.

Carlee Stilley paced West Craven's offense, picking up 12 kills. Stilley got some help from Seryna Gaito and her 15 assists. Stilley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

East Carteret's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kolby Piner, who had four digs and two aces, and Grayson Gillikin, who had nine digs. Piner is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season.
