Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Falls to Copper Basin in First Game of Season

Hiwassee Dam unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Copper Basin Cougars on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Copper Basin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexis Hyatt, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 21 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kloie Ballew, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Looking ahead, Hiwassee Dam will challenge Macon Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Copper Basin, they will square off against Coalfield at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
