Baseball Game Preview: Milton Panthers vs. Gulf Breeze Dolphins

Milton is 2-8 against Gulf Breeze since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will take on the Dolphins at 6:30 p.m. Neither Milton nor Gulf Breeze posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

It was a proper cat-fight when Milton took on West Florida on Friday. The Panthers fell 3-0 to the Jaguars. The game marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Milton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saylor Melton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Melton snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Gulf Breeze was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Lincoln.

Ky Cook was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Milton and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for Gulf Breeze, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

Milton suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Gulf Breeze in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
