Basketball Game Preview: Bridgeport Indians vs. Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers

Bridgeport hasn't had much luck against Buckhannon-Upshur recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bridgeport Indians will take on the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Monday, Bridgeport was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Preston. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Haylee Pryor, who posted 12 points. Kloey Martinez was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Buckhannon-Upshur managed to keep up with University until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Buckhannon-Upshur came up short against University, falling 73-49. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Hawks are ranked 11th).

Bridgeport's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Bridgeport came up short against Buckhannon-Upshur in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 44-37. Can Bridgeport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
