Basketball Recap: River Bluff Comes Up Short

River Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 58-22 loss at the hands of the White Knoll Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Timberwolves are ranked 33rd).

Meghan Tucker was River Bluff's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Tucker also led the team in rebounds with nine.

White Knoll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaelyn Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards. Hayes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Emory Waters-Inman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.

River Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for White Knoll, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

River Bluff has already played their next contest, a 70-19 loss against South Pointe on the 1st. As for White Knoll, they will host Dutch Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
