Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Strawberry Mansion

While Strawberry Mansion didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down the MAST Charter II Voyagers 63-44 on Tuesday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Voyagers are ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Strawberry Mansion's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamar Davis, who posted 20 points. Davis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Jahsir Buchanan was another key player, putting up nine points and eight assists.

MAST Charter II's loss came despite strong showings from Shane Twyman and Myles Millican. Twyman put up 17 points, while Millican had 15 points. The dominant performance gave Millican a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jadan Thomas, who posted seven points.

The win (which was Strawberry Mansion's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for MAST Charter II, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Strawberry Mansion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-53 loss against Mastery Charter North - Pickett on the 19th. As for MAST Charter II, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marple Newtown at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
