Baseball Recap: American Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when American and Newark Memorial meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 5-2 to the Cougars. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Eric Keesis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Dillon Hsiao made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

American's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Newark Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

While American had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
