Football Recap: Southwest EC Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Palo Verde Valley, Southwest EC was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They slipped by the Calipatria Hornets 21-20. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Thomas Gomez threw for 82 yards and a pair of TDs. Isrhael Vallejo-Sarmiento was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards. On the ground, Adrian Jauregui rushed for 28 yards.

Southwest EC's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Calipatria, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Southwest EC does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calipatria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clairemont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for the Hornets and six for the Chieftains.
