Basketball Recap: Bishop Walsh Takes a Loss

Bishop Walsh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 71-35 loss at the hands of the GVCS Broadfording Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-23 back in November of 2024.

GVCS Broadfording found their leader in sophomore Fernando Garcia, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points and five steals. Garcia is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nashon Mann was another key player, going 7 of 14 en route to 15 points.

Bishop Walsh's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for GVCS Broadfording, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Walsh will host Paw Paw at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. GVCS Broadfording has already played their next contest (against Grace Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
