Basketball Recap: Kenedi Bradley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chesterton over Hammond Central

After flying high against La Porte last Thursday, Chesterton came back down to earth. The Chesterton Trojans fell 43-36 to the Hammond Central Wolves on Friday.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenedi Bradley, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Bradley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Liv Roach also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Chesterton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Hammond Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Indiah Hutchinson, who scored 13 points and eight boards. Layla Hart was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Chesterton's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Hammond Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Chesterton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-37 win against Crown Point on the 23rd. As for Hammond Central, they will be playing at home against Hammond Morton at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hammond Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
