Newton-Conover had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost to the West Henderson Falcons on the road by a 51-33 margin on Friday. The Red Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Newton-Conover lost, don't look at Amari Coulter. Despite the final result, he threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt.

Even though they lost, Newton-Conover was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 400 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Zane McCraw had a dynamite game for West Henderson, rushing for 211 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. McCraw really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Zion Murray, who rushed for 149 yards on only 13 carries.

Newton-Conover will head out to challenge Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Henderson, they will take on Hendersonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Henderson will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
