Softball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. White Oak Vikings

Lejeune is 0-4 against White Oak since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Devil Pups will head out to face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Lejeune has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lejeune fell victim to Southside and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 12-0 to the Seahawks. The Devil Pups' loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Lejeune saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadence Gordon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, White Oak hadn't done well against Dixon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since March 7th.

Alyssa Carkhuff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

White Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

White Oak moved to 8-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lejeune, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Lejeune suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to White Oak in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Devil Pups avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
