Baseball Game Preview: White River Hornets vs. Decatur Golden Gators

The White River Hornets will square off against the Decatur Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (White River 3, Decatur 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

White River is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since May 2, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Kentwood by a score of 4-2. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

White River saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cale Thatcher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Thatcher is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Caleb Dale also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Decatur fell victim to Kentridge and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. The loss was the Golden Gators' first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for White River and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Decatur, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
