To
find out, MaxPreps and Lateral Sports teamed up and found the alma
mater of every player on an NFL roster as of opening day (we included
suspended and injured reserve players). Then we broke it all down by
state and came up with the table below.
You will find that Indiana has sent 17 players to the league this season, and that three schools have multiple alums at the highest level.
Want some more fun facts? How about these:
- Brothers Zack and Nick Martin teamed up for Bishop Chatard in 2008 and in total, they helped earn three state titles for their school.
- The Dallas Cowboys have three Indiana-bred players on their roster, and next up are the home-state Indianapolis Colts with two players.
- If you're looking for future NFL talent in Indiana, look in the trenches. Three players apiece play guard, tackle, tight end and defensive tackle. There are no defensive backs and just two offensive skill players (not counting tight end).
