Basketball Recap: North White Comes Up Short

North White lost against DeMotte Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North White Vikings lost to the DeMotte Christian Knights at home by a 46-31 margin. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, North White still got an impressive performance from Kaylyn Applegate, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Applegate a new career-high.

Even though they lost, North White smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

DeMotte Christian had a senior duo take command as Sophie Bakker dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards and Audrey DeVries put up 12 points. Bakker is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassie Nanninga, who earned seven points.

North White's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for DeMotte Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North White will head out to take on Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for DeMotte Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Caston at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
