Basketball Recap: La Farge/Youth Initiative Takes a Loss

La Farge/Youth Initiative was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the De Soto Pirates 70-13. The match marked La Farge/Youth Initiative's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

De Soto found their leader in sophomore Kylee Venner, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. The game was Venner's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sylvia Krueger, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds.

La Farge/Youth Initiative's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for De Soto, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Farge/Youth Initiative will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd. De Soto will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against New Lisbon at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. De Soto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
