Volleyball Recap: Gertz-Ressler Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eric Franco and Emilio Garcia

Gertz-Ressler lost against USC Hybrid back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Pumas took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Pumas just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

While Gertz-Ressler ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Gertz-Ressler's loss came despite strong showings from Emilio Garcia and Eric Franco. Garcia had 13 digs, while Franco had 69 digs. Franco is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season.

USC Hybrid had a senior duo take command as Anthony Ramirez had eight aces, six kills, and two blocks and Francisco Sandoval had 17 digs and six aces. Matthew Montoya was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.

Gertz-Ressler's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for USC Hybrid, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gertz-Ressler will venture away from home to square off against Alliance Bloomfield at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for USC Hybrid, they will head out to face off against Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
