Preview: Dawson School Mustangs vs. Gilpin County Eagles
The Dawson School Mustangs will be playing at home against the Gilpin County Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Dawson School has not done well against SkyView Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dawson School sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 33-31 win over SkyView Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Dawson School has posted yet this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Gilpin County gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clear Creek 54-19 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Gilpin County has managed all season.
Dawson School is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Gilpin County, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Dawson School was dealt a bruising 49-19 defeat at the hands of Gilpin County in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dawson School was down 29-2.
